HOW DO I MEASURE MY ROLL?
“Measure the width precisely to ensure a good fit”
“Measure the diameter across the middle including the centre core”
Ensuring you get the largest roll to fit your machine should ensure value for money. The width is a constant but the diameter can vary.
For example, if you operate a SHARP XE-A 307 you would expect to be using a 57mm X 70mm roll (the 70mm being the diameter)
Some companies will try to sell you a smaller diameter with some selling as small as a 57mm X 30mm roll at a similar price to the larger option for the same machine.

WHAT ROLL SHOULD I BE USING?
Thermal Rolls
Thermal Rolls should be used in machines that have a thermal printer. Thermal paper is a special fine paper that is coated with a chemical that changes colour when exposed to heat. It is used in thermal printers and particularly in inexpensive or lightweight devices such as adding machines, cash registers, and credit card terminals. Only purchase BPA free thermal rolls as anything else will be against the law to use.
A Grade (Paper Rolls)
A Grade or Paper Rolls are different from Thermal in that the printer will need either an ink roller or ink ribbon to print on to the paper.
2 Ply / 3 Ply Rolls
As with the A Grade roll these are paper rolls that require ink ribbons or rollers to carry out the printing. The difference with these however is that they can give you a duplicate or triplicate copy of the transaction
Laundry Rolls
Laundry Rolls are water and solvent proof rolls for use in the dry cleaning industry.
They generally come in a range of sizes & colours

DOES ROLL QUALITY MATTER?
In simple terms - YES most definitely
Failure to use approved papers may result in printer warranties being invalidated and deterioration in image quality.
Use of low quality papers can result in excess dust generation which could result in printer jamming and can also dramatically reduce the life of any ribbons or rollers where used.
Some paper types may result in there being up to 20% less paper on a roll meaning that you buy 20% more rolls than necessary.

We take every care and make every effort to ensure that the paper used in the rolls we supply are from environmentally accredited paper suppliers and from sustainable resources.
Our rolls are BPA free in line with new EU legislation restricting the use of Bisphenol A (BPA) in thermal paper.
